The Daspit Law Firm Files Premises Liability Claim on Behalf of Galveston County Resident

Premises liability is an area of law that protects victims injured on other people’s properties. It is also an area of law that many people have a difficult time understanding. That’s because there are a lot of factors involved in these cases, and a lot of elements that need to be looked at and evaluated. For example, you have to consider:

  • Who the victim was and why they were on another’s property.
  • The nature of the accident and the injuries / damages that resulted.
  • Who the property owner is.
  • What conditions caused the accident
  • Whether the accident could or should have been prevented.

Because there are a lot of moving parts involved in premises liability claims, it becomes crucially important to work with experienced lawyers who know how to determine whether injured victims have the right to file claims against negligence property owners.

Earlier this month, Attorney John Daspit did just that by filing a lawsuit on behalf of a Galveston County woman who suffered an injury while patrolling the premises of an oil company. The lawsuit - filed against Marathon Petroleum Company, alleges that the woman fell on an unstable walkway and injured her knee and other parts of her body.

Citing premises liability law, the lawsuit claims that the woman’s injuries were a result of the oil company’s negligence. Specifically, the claim alleges that the company failed to maintain a safe premises, failed to inspect and address a dangerous condition, and failed to notify visitors of the dangerous condition.
